RRBBO13 Garry The Leprechaun Strandie

Wasn't going to enter but wanted to use up some 26inch bike parts that I had sitting around.
So I found a 1954 Garry frame made by CCM and started building a Canadian Strandie .
This frame was missing the top brace in the chain stays and the head tube was bent to the left
but after a little welding and some physical persuasion turned out fine .
So Here's my start .

Thanks guys top tubes are like a Schwinn straight bar frame don't think there are a lot of these bikes around .
Crank is of course a clover leaf .

That frame sure has a prewar motobike feel to it.
Should make for a cool strandie

Here's a repair to the rear of the bike the fork was toast so i borrowed a piece for this job.

A little body work to the frame

Here's the frame after 4 coats of stripper each 1 pressure washed off .
Normally 1 or 2 coats will take it down to bare metal .
Don't know what this primer is but its staying just sanded it smooth and did the body work .

Nice work on the stripping. As has been mentioned, those lugs are cool. Any thought to a slightly different color tone, or an accent color to show those off? And speaking of colors....ideas?

Did the lugs on this one in the winter build off a couple of years ago
Polished them out .
I thought about it on this build but I'm going with one solid color .
You will see color soon an old CCM muscle bike color from the 60s

This color mid 60s CCM Mustang
Wish I could have found a better picture way brighter when the bike was new and shining in the sun .
Much like a lime green Schwinn
Almost a candy lime green .

Nice frame to start with.

Dry fitted the parts to make sure everything is straight .
Its all good might change some parts but this is close .
Also have to cut down the fork tube now that it's sized.
Same style fork as on the Gary Fisher clunker .
Can now take it apart again and paint it

Looking good, cool frame, nice parts, and I kinda like it how it is in its 'indestructible primer' colour

I like the oval holes in the chainring. Much cooler than the typical Schwinn clover ring.

I have to use another seat .
I made the top on this B73 frame was a lot of work had to build a mould out of wood and baked the leather in my barbecue .
Frame was also restored .
Very comfy but third spring on front gives more side to side motion than i like .

But traded it off with a couple of springer forks and some other small stuff for this bike

The seat on this bike is also one I restored luckily it had the right clamp for this size seat post .
I think it was waiting for this bike to come along .

It's not a Zep it's a Zen

Gotta change the gearing on this one that 50 tooth sprocket on the front is killing me .
might try a 20 on the back if I can find one .

Here it is in paint 3rd shot is same light just different angle .
Very fine flake in it .
I think maybe the best paint job I've done .
