At least it's just an oil lamp. I thought it might be a carbide miners lamp at first. I think the inside of the light housing and lens will be covered in soot in short order. Neat, but not for me. Gary

If I was going to give it a shot I think I'd try and seat something like a salt shaker lid near the top to at least disperse some of the soot.

But you are certainly right, as it is set up, it could get to lookin sooty right quick! Still I have had lights on more than a few of my bikes and can not recall the last time I used them. So it it was just a matter of ascetics then the above lamp still look pretty cool.
