on the seat
on the rack (for me it doesn't "flow" with the rest of the bike)
Trying to figure out a good way to mount the seat tonight. Threw the only sissy bar I have that's close to the right size on the bike and really don't like how it rides above the seat.
Took a step back and realized I still have to re engineer the extension.

Why not make the seat mount integral with the rear extension? If need be, I can always bolt a new mounting bracket to the extension to adjust the seat position. Plus, this will be a great option to mount the rack and keep it off the fender

My first night ride of the year, and of course I took Stretch d'Elegeance. My favorite night light pic stop was broken, but got a few other pics. Trying out the nanner seat. Still don't like the sissy bar, but with the seat now a few inches further back, the comfort level is just sublime. 6 miles tonight, and I'm not sore atoll.

I like the nanner without rack or sissy, it flows nicely in the first pic where you have it slammed as low as it can go. The sissy crossing the extension is messing up the rear in my opinion.
The idea of building it in to the reengineered extension could work, but you might end up with a giant chunk of steel back there. Maybe just a pair of struts attached at the rear axle, or somewhere aesthetically pleasing on the extension.

I washed my vehicle today and decided to spend some time hosing a bunch of heavy gunk off the frame. The amount of color that came back to life from just the high pressure water is incredible
Scored a cool nick nack from the LBS today. I've always wanted one
Dig the video update! I have used a 50 / 50 water / vinegar mix in a spray bottle, sprayed onto a rag and then lightly rubbed on a frame to bring out the paint. It cleans the surface rust off, and also works to prep for new primer and paint if so desired.

Spent an hour or two late last night with a bucket of water and #OOOO steel wool rubbing on the patina. The bike was originally a green that I was able to identify as Christmas green.
Somewhere in it's life, it looks like someone tried scraping the paint off with a knife, then painted at least the front half red. There's no red paint on the seat tube or rear end
This is going to make matching the frame's patina on the tank and fenders infinitely more difficult, but I accept this challenge

What a different one pass of #0000 steel wool makes. I rarely play with the patina my bikes acquire, but this is worth it
It's hard to ignore the very obvious Christmas themed patina on this frame. I shall have to try and resis... Dammat, the thread changed it's name by itself!

SUCCESS! I finally found the serial number under 1/8" of caked on gunk. F53460 with a sideways 1.
Then I noticed the down tube has taken a pretty good wallop and is about 1/4" out of line. It obviously hasn't affected the integrity of the frame, so I'll just pretend I didn't see that and move right along

Lumber is still crazy expensive in Michigan. I've got an extensive collection of Tanya Harding's I can use to massage it back in place if I get ambitious
Working on stripping paint and sanding down the other pieces right now. The paint on that repop Columbia tank is no joke, 100 grit sandpaper is polishing it
