Ever since I got my first "high end" mountain bike in college I have secretly obsessed over the weight of my bikes. I'll swap a part for a few grams and even when building my rat rods I find myself worrying about weight, when it really doesn't matter! Haha

Well, over the past 2 1/2 months I've been adjusting my lifestyle and managed to drop nearly 20 pounds, now all my bikes are 20 pounds lighter! Can't wait for consistently warm weather so I can get on some bikes and feel the difference.

Worrying about grams and ounces when I know I can lose pounds now seems insignificant.

Youthguy great job! Michelle Obama is proud of us!
I also have an addiction, food! A year ago iI was at 227 lbs., normally I am 170-180 lbs. It took 16 miles a day for 8 months, I am going back up from 182! Seems as I get older losing it is harder.

Before I even opened the thread I thought to myself, " Get my big butt off the bike, and it's be 225 lbs lighter..." I feel pretty good I'm almost 54 but my metabolism has slowed down and I am creeping up in weight. I'd be happier at 185 myself, but 200 lbs would be cool. I weighed that for over a decade...
WAIT A MINUTE! You mean I'm supposed to RIDE these bikes???o_O

Carl.

I've found that making my bikes heavier ultimately helps make them lighter. My neighborhood cruiser weighs somewhere around 50 lbs. I do a 300' climb on that every night and over the past 8 months or so I've dropped 20 lbs.

As a bonus, I've come to like heavy bikes. I feel at no disadvantage on them. So long as I've got the gears I can spin my way up a 25% grade.

Great to here you dropped some weight, Nice Job! I'm sure you'll feel a difference.
It took a lot of exercise but I didn't put on my normal 10 lbs over the winter, Yeah.

I'm still a "weight weenie", even with my old bikes.
It just helps me to gear them harder and ride faster ;)
