I stumbled across the RRB site while researching board track racing bikes and was impressed with the pictures and info. About a month ago I decided to build a bike. I'm old and don't have the resources, time or energy to scout around for old parts and pieces to create a true rat. So, I decided to buy a new bike and modify it with new components readily available from etailers. I started with a Nirve B-1 and added a springer fork, Wald handlebars, old Schwinn style pedals, lay back seat post, Brooks Flyer saddle, Duro clay red tires, leather look grips, Electra toolbag, hub shiners and some WWII nose art decals. I fabricated a couple of clamps for the horn and headlight and drilled out the chain guard. Now I realize this may not be considered a "rat rod" but I had fun and enjoy riding it around town.
