I am so excited that I just secured a spot with Jay at MODE Bikes http://www.modebikes.com/to build one of my dream bikes.

We are starting with my Iron Cross that I scored on craigslist.

I have given him this photo and with some basic thoughts. We will keep it with #20 as that was the car that Steve drove in the movie.

My only problem is it will be about 6 weeks before he can start.

I don't care how long it takes, I for one will be watching and looking forward to seeing it!!!
Cool idea.

Luke.

I love the prototype and formula racing cars of that era. The bodywork was very aero, but parts of the engine and some other mechanicals were visible behind the rear wheels. The body panels of current prototype cars obscure all that cool stuff from sight.

The bike has been dropped off and several new ideas came out during the design consultant.

It is going to be a long three months why Mode works his magic.

Got the call that the build is going to start on my bike in a few weeks.

Ordered up a select a hub shifter for it.

I need to pick out a seat for the bike.

Any suggestions?

I heard from Jay about a month ago, but no eta on the build. The wait is killing me, but he said it is worth the wait.

I just got word that the bike is almost done, he wanted to change the graphics at the last minute. I should have the bike by the 9th of November.

I know three things about the bike.

1. Gulf Livery Paint Scheme

The fork is a triple tree powder coated black and the wheels and handlebars are also black.

2. BoxKars Shifter

3. KMC Chain

Everything else was left up to Jay.

Looking forward to seeing the paint job. :D

Funny about that first photo at the top....it's actually the one I took of my bike before I sold it.

So this makes three gulf themed bikes being done right now. That's pretty awesome. Can't wait to see it since the Felt Lemans is what inspired my build. Nice.

The bike is 98% done. The graphics are true to what was on the car.

Still need a laid back post, brooks saddle and headlight that is being built for it.

Lots of small tweaks that most would not notice.
