Handle gear shifter

Any instructions on how to build a gear shifter?

I've seen some cool handle shifters on the boards. Do I need special tools? Are there shifter kits? I've looked at just buying one, but I've seen them being sold for $150+

Are you wanting to modify a bar mounted shifter to be a frame mounted shifter?
If so, there are a few builders that have done this in different ways.
