They also made a low end 10 speed called the La Parisienne. This bike only comes in one size (small). These bikes have cottered cranks, safety levers, and stem shifters. The steel is probably low end as well.
These pictures are several months old, but the bikes are still at the bike co op. I will not buy them either.
This one is in almost brand new condition except for the bar tape and the tubes. It even has brand new barely used tires on it. It is $40.
