Hawthorne Time- Red Robin

Not so much a build as a refresh. I got this Hawthorne Middleweight from a friend and finally got tired of looking at it hanging there.

I got it torn down and started polishing up the chrome. I was going to have some pics to share, but my tortoises wandered away from where I had left them in the yard. The bigger one was easy to find but the little one took an hour and a half to track down. Enjoy their pics instead.

The pics are almost a year old. The big one measures 6" across his shell and the smaller measures 4".

Back to the bike. I'll snap a few pics after work tonight.

A couple of late nights have given me a nice bike. Here is how it sat when I called it quits last night. I thought I would try one of those buffer things that goes into your drill. Didn't go as well as I had hoped. A few spots shined with the original red, but on either side was the dull faded red and bare metal. Good thing I had a couple new cans of red in the cabinet.

Got a little more done today.

I like the way the new balloon tire fill up the middleweight fenders.

Yup, that is why I went ahead and got it started (and finished). I am hoping to sell it while there.

A few more hours logged tonight and it is done. I added a vintage light that I converted to led, and a pair of large dice valve caps. Now I'm ready for Bike Fest.
