please help id this elgin - i believe its a twin , but dont know any other info... was found in a farm field in ohio half buried ......age ? model? links to info? anything will be of greathelp as we plan to restore this

That's junk please feel free to ship it to me. Pm me for my address lol seriously tho that frame is killer I'd give up any one of my bikes for it. Can't help you on the year tho. If that was half buried for any amount of time where I live you would have half a frame.

Not expensive at all. Rat that thing! I would do the build in the Winter Build Off coming up.

ideas on how to do a rat seat clamp ?? ive been staring at it all day and cant seem to figure out a good way to tackle that

That will take some engineering. Make up an upper and lower bracket that bolts to the frame tubes, using something that won't crush the tubes. Maybe pieces of pipe cut in half just the right size welded to plates. Then weld a seat post to it and bolt the upper and lower together. Anything that won't damage the frame.

Morrow or a new departure hubs on drop center wheels. The Elgin hubs are nice but they did not all have air cooled hubs. Handle bars from a Monark , torringtons

I'd get a metal detector & go over the area where you found the frame . Maybe there's a seat clamp near by . I just saw the seat clamp you need up for auction last week & it was well over $150 when I saw it.

Another motivator for you. I like bikes that are already broken myself. I don't feel guilty when I use the "wrong" parts to put them back together. No idea who built this one but those frames are hard to build wrong as long as they are not mutilated in the process

Guys - I am truly blown away by the help I am receiving here - it is GREATLY appreciated - it's nice to see what this old war horse looked like back in its glory days !!

I tried the metal detector thing with a buddy but no dice - having trouble getting the forks out - they simply don't wanna come out - tried gentle heat , pb blaster , ect .."..
