New to the site and new to bikes. I got an old bike from my wife's grandmother awhile back. I didn't know anything about it when I got and starting "restoring" it. Come to find out it was J.C. Higgins bike with the Sears Roebuck badge painted on. I wonder if anyone could give me an approximate year, model and value. See first photo below. After the first bike was done I got another J.C. Higgins bike for my wife and I am currently restoring it. It is a 1958 or 1959 model. Let me know what these bikes are worth if you have idea.

I don't know much about Higgins bikes but the green bike looks real nice. Leather with green looks really good together. As for you wife's bike...hmmm. You better paint it up a nice bright color or find her another one. That brown color is just really drab for a lady to ride. Gary

I beg to differ. If that's the original paint on her bike, don't paint it.The value will probably be less after a repaint. Thanks.

JC Higgins was the Sears brand until about 1963, when the started naming them Sears. They are mostly Murray built bikes. The chainring, and chainguard can help get an idea of the year, and part of the serial number is the Sears catalog number, so you might find it in old catalogs.

Any idea on the values? My wife's bike was painted over by someone before I got it. I removed the dumb turtle decals and sand blasted it.

Just guessing, but from the looks of the chainguards (same style?) I would say both are early 60's. The chainring on yours looks newer, like mid sixties, but that wouldn't be a JC Higgins, it would be Sears. It's hard to say.
