im wanting to know what year this bike was produced. its a western flyer, and on the tank that holds the batteries and wiring for the lights are the words "cosmic flyer" the only other markings i can find on the bike is "Excel Mark 4" (4 in roman numerals) stamped into the coaster brake arm. any help would sure be appreciated. thanx, fast eddie outty

at a different forums under a vintage thread i had a few fellas post that they think its late fifties - early sixties. i didnt think it was that old when i first saw it but im still learning about this stuff. theres a few different projects that have to be finished before i get to it, but im excited about customising my first cruiser. im thinking of using 20" wheels on it, shorter pedal stems, and a 20" fork to drop the front end a lil bit, except for those mods ill keep it the same and just clean up and re-paint everything. any ideas? fast eddie outty

trouble with the smaller companies is that they are almost impossible to date code as far as i know. schwinn, and raligh kept good records but other than that unless you know the history of the bike it is very hard to pin down exactly what year it is.
