Help with bike identifying.

I have no idea what this bike is. I was told its a 1950's spitfire but I know it is not.
It's a pre-war bike but can't tell what it is based on serial number or parts. It's got a skiptooth chain, screw chain tensioners.
Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like a 40's Columbia although it could have been badged as something else (goodyear, westfield, etc).

Westfield was the parent company of Columbia, and this is definitely made by them. I'd bet it has a serial starting with F or G, F being 1941. Looks like a late prewar, especially if that's a black finished chainring. -adam
