Help with road bike...

This was thrown in on a deal for some cool 26" bike tires at a local yard sale. Nishiki ? Anybody know about these bikes? It needs a pedal and the back wheel is bent. Is it worth fixing or should it be parked in the parts/projects corner.

Im not too familiar with the brand, I do have a Nishiki MTB that is in about the same kinda shape. But yours looks older.

IMO...looks like excellent flip material, clean it up and sell it on Craigslist to help fund your hobby.

Good idea-it's nice but not really my cup of tea. My bikes all have ape hangers!

OK beginning if you want a casual mid-grade road bike or a fixie, pretty much useless parts-wise for anything else.

They're reasonably popular around here as commuters for college kids and even a few bike couriers use them as "don't steal me" bikes. Some of the frames alone have sold for okay money on ebay ($75 range). I haven't seen a nishiki bike with a real head badge before so if you have the heart for it you might be able to take that off and sell it on ebay for decent coin and then sell the bike local. Just my 2 cents.

Check-out this site for Nishiki info. The bike you have is a lower level bike but, would make a great fixie or path racer.
