Picked this up on a trade but not Shure of the year . serial numbers look like a badly stamped D12991 or J but there is no J on the chart.

It's a Snyder built bike, and I think that badge was only used in 1935. The 34's (earliest shown in the Elgin/JC Higgins/Hawthorne book) have a different badge. I can't make it out clearly, but if memory serves, there's a statue of a woman on the older badges. -Adam
 
Thanks Adam for the info. it was a big help! so far the only bike I found online that looked like it was a Hawthorne Flyer and it was about the same year and had the same type stem , could this bike have came with a hanging tank? in another photo of a Hawthorn with the same chain ring it was dated to around 1935 so i think you nailed it on the year. Thanks again!!
