im just feeling bad i let my sting ray rat go but it went to a good cause lol
the story is as follows lol
this guy called me about my sting ray rat for his son
he doesn't have a lot of money and is barely making it
so... he managed to buy his son a wal mart bike
at which that bike got stolen and although was recovered luckily it \was beat up pretty bad
normally id laugh someone right out of my shop for offering such a bike as a trade
but when the kid got here with his dad he ran right for my sting ray and just loved it.
kids do have a soft spot in my heart so i traded even for it . how could i say no to a kid
so.... moving on with my story he asked me if i had a 16 inch wheel.. which i did
so the bike gods must be smiling down on me because i anymore made the transaction i landed a 2400 dollar build job
karma pays off even though i didn't do it for karma did it to make that little kid happy
i remember as a child having bikes stolen and i was crushed
the reason im posting this is because i wanna hear similar stories how people help others down on their luck and how karma plays a role on such actions
that and i need to let my feelings go for letting that bike go llol
thanks for reading and feel free to post
thanks
Sean

I've given away several bikes over the years to kids, adults who needed them to get to work, and most recently refurbished a few bikes for flood victims who lost their cars to the floods.

As far as Karma goes, in the last few years I've scored a Hutch Judge for $40, an Iverson mag wheel for $20 or $25, a Trek 4300 with Disk brakes for $20, A pair of Lester mags in a BMX lot for next to nothing, all kinds of freebies and cheap projects, and just recently scored 4 bikes for $40 that I sold one for $50, one for $180, and scrapped the other 2 so I've been doing great and don't mind giving back once in a while.

thanks crash
i might be ale to get some pics with the kid as im planning a ride
his dad liked my rat colletion and im planning a trip so his on can enjoy the bike

outskirtvustoms yeah the same things been happening to me i have been getting alt of freebies ever since ive been helping people out
but like i said i do it just to help
seeing that kid with the bike is pleasure enough for me
thanks

I must say hats off to you for helping a kid along!

The other side of the story is mine!
I helped a kid along when I had my shop, he was a local and in everyday, I took a "generic," bmx on trade, think I gave $20.00 for it. For sweeping the parking lot 1 time I gave it to the kid. He never said thanks, and that kinda bothered me.
Couple weeks later I was restoring a DG bmx bike for my daughter, painted the frame and fork, hung the fork in the open back door to dry.
You know that kid stole the fork riding the bicycle I traded him. A month later when I ran into his momma and told her, you know what she said right?????
It involved my sexual orentation and the age of my lovers, and that I was just Pee Wee weird.
The kid did stop coming in!!!

So before you leap, look at the landing kids!

Yep, Karma is a mean mama too. This reminds me of a story, back when I was a kid I had my bike stolen from in front of the library, I hung around a while hoping I'd see it and right as I was getting ready to walk home I saw it ride past! I yelled out and the kid dropped the bike and ran. So I grabbed the bike and tailed him home. He went into a big 2 story house and I saw his dad out front working on his truck (BIG guy about 6 foot + and built like a marine) so I went right up as soon as the kid went inside and talked to him.

After I told his dad what happened, he went off like a nuclear bomb and yelled at the kid to get that BLEEP out here right BLEEP now and he took off his belt and laid into that kid bad right in the front yard for all the neighborhood to see. I almost felt sorry for the kid but his dad told me this was not the first time he had been caught doing this but it'd certainly be the last or he'd get it worse next time.

You kids got it easy now days, when I was a kid we didn't get grounded to a room with a Playstation and cable TV... We got a belt...and it WORKED!

thats very true outskirt
i was raised the same way
i was never in trouble because i knew the consequences
karma can be a ean mistress if provoked but it cn also be good
i have just got 4 orders for some really big builds none under 2g and i went the cheapest route i could
plus the guy i traded the sting ray to told peolpe what i did and they been giving me a bunch of bikes so many i actually had t turn them down
so as much as i did not do it for karma im glad it worked out
i might do that again for a fe kids in the new neighborhood once i move
thanks for posting
