Just picked this up... Will be searching the forum here and there to get some more info.

I like this set up but I do need to replace some parts. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Beauty bike you got there. Looks like it could have been built here, but I don't recognize it.

Welcome to RRB!!!

Thanks! Picked it up in Virginia.. needs some minor tweaking but will be in working order shortly.

Needs:
Headset tightening
Seatpost
Seat
Better wheel alignment.. has 24x3' in wheels, rub slightly
Fork & Rear spacers.. the rear has ugly homemade jobs to stretch it, guess to give the huge fat's clearance.

That looks like a Murray-built JC Higgins frame, if so, I believe it will handle a 24x3 tire without modification (it may need spread slightly to accommodate the hub).

The extensions may be there merely to stretch the rear out.

In any case, it's a sweet bike!

Cheers,
Dr. T

I actually like the way the dropout extension was done. Looks fairly cleanly done from what I can see.

Yea... I suppose with some powdercoating possibly, it would look a bit cleaner.

Here is a closer pic and a look at the clearance issue on the front (rubbing)

Anyone have the seatpost diameter?

Thanks
