Thanks for all the compliments. I've had a chance to ride it a few times now. It's super fast, straight, and quiet. I think the 44/16 gearing is just about right, you won't be climbing any huge hills but it's fast. I've never ridden in 700x40c tires and I like them. They are fast but still have enough meat to make for a comfortable ride.
Stretch- To get the grips to match the seat better I gave them about five coats of amber shellac. I got them super clean before I did it and it seems to be holding up really well. They are about as close as you can get to the same color as the seat now. Shellac will slowly wear over time but then you put a few more coats on.
GTCOMA- The tires didn't stay white for long . However these don't discolor much, and not nearly as bad as the thick bricks I have.
Udallcustombikes- The wheels are 700c but I don't know the exact width, they are Sun CR18 rims. The tires are 700x40c and the only place I could find the cream ones was through Electra bikes. The black version of this tire I found online for about ten bucks a tire.
