Where did you come by the typhoon decals? Great looking bike. Can't wait to see it with rubber on the ground!

They came from a guy on eBay called Blewmundae. It's the same guy where ndaway got the ones for his daughter's straightbar Typhoon. I PM'd him about them and he gave me the eBay info. The quality on the decals seem nice....although I am not very good at installing them!

That last pic looks awesome !!! Looks like you staring at an old 60's catalog pic :) Did it just turn out that way or did you do any doctoring to the pic ?

It does have an interesting look to it, but it was by accident. I am a photographer. I have a studio here in town and I used to work as a motorsports photographer…but that pic was just a result of having the garage door open a couple of feet at the bottom which caused a back light and underexposure on the frame. I opened it up with levels in PS and then sharpened it. Like that old painter guy Bob Ross from TV used to say….I guess it was a happy accident.

I do plan a high key studio shoot with the bike as soon as it is done.

Man, I would be tickled pink if i could make my pics look like that accident or not. My wife has a fancy camera and knows way more about it than I do (point and shoot here), maybe I need to get her to work on it, I know she uses lightroom for her stuff though. Anyway, You've got the perfect bike to be taking pics of, the wheels sound awesome too ! Looking forward to more.

Well, if you ever get bored, check out http://www.watsonfx.com

It is my old motorsports photo site. It hasn't been update in 6 years or so, but there are some cool shots out there. I gave up motorsports photography about 5 years ago. It was never going to be my full time gig and started taking up WAY too much time for a "side" job. I had fun with it though.

Re: His/Hers '66 Birthyear Bikes

I finally mounted up the tires/wheels last night and of course nothing is ever easy. So using balloon fenders and seriously fat balloon tires on a middleweight bike is a pain in the butt. First I thought my frame was bent because of the way the tire was rubbing. Finally a tried another middleweight tire I had mounted on a different wheel. Turns out the rim was laced a little off center. Using the fat Nirve 2.125 tires caused that "little" off center to rub. So I went around the rim tighening and loosening spokes to center the wheel, then trued it again once I had it close. A couple of hours of this crap and I have the wheels on and while there isn't much room, they seem to be good. I'll post some pic tonight.

Alright...So the Typhoon is almost done. I still need to add pedals, kickstand, etc.....but here she sits as of tonight. Yeah, I just noticed that the front tread is going the wrong way, but the wheel is just sitting in there as I am waiting on some chrome wheel nuts.

I feel like I missed hers.

Yeah, "hers" is coming up next....Probably be a couple of weeks before I get the frame stripped and back from the coaters.

In the mean time I need to clean out some parts from my garage.

What color will hers be?

Probably something similar to the factory '66 purple, but with a little metalflake thrown in.

Honestly, I need to regroup though and plan some things out. I have WAY too many projects going on. I think my next project will be adding a ice grey Ultegra group to my road bike. Been meaning to do that all winter. Then list a bunch of junk on the forums/ebay, tear down my Airflyte and see what I have there and THEN get started on the girls bike.

You have too many projects going on to get her bike in this pair done? This little red light is going off in my head. There is something to be said for being single though. :D

Well, I think if you asked my wife she would rank cleaning out the bike crap from the garage higher than started on the "her" bike! Besides, my coater has been taking a couple of weeks lately, so I'll drop it off, get everything done and get started!
