We are having our city wide clean up today and the city workers are setting bikes aside for me. So far I have scored a random sears 5 speed and a '49 Schwinn skip tooth girls bike. The Schwinn is mostly complete- incorrect stem and bars and a THICK coat of house paint. The brass badge is in good shape even.

Anyone help ID the green one? Manufacturer? Age?

The green Sears bike is Columbia made if I am correct. I have had a few Columbia 10 speeds with that exact frame, and I never looked in to the specific year, but I would guess they were mid '70's. My dad has one and it is a '76. Being that yours is a five speed, with the single front ring, I'd guess late '60's or early '70s.

The sprocket on the Sears / Columbia is probably correct for Columbia 5 speed, maybe 3 speed muscle bikes, like the SS3 and SS5. I picked up an Austrian Puch built Sears in the same color today, same decals also. I miss big trash day here in Kansas City, they changed it to an appointment only system so no more free for all trash pile scavenging....

Thanks for the info on the Sears. Now I have a fixie project hanging up for later. I aired up the tires on the Schwinn and took it for a spin around town, rode nice. Wifey isn't happy that I take trash away and bring more bikes home.

After my ride I did a little cleaning. New D Model D hub on 24" S-2 rims with regular tires (HOORAY!). The original paint is lost under the house paint :(. Any idea on a model?

The chainguard was the one used on the Spitfire, and some of the Flying Star and Tornado bikes but it would have probably had a Spitfire headbage had that been the case. B607 can probably tell you what the frame/model number is. Could have been a "Spitfire" or "Hornet" or who knows as far as what decal it would have worn.
