I am curious about different ways to weld/braze together sheet metal gas tanks, as seen on many of the cool motorized replica bikes (harley, indian, merkel etc.) Any tips on type of welding used, gauge of sheet metal used, and what kind of joints are being used and if a butted corner joint is hard to make water tight or if you need to bend a lip on one side. I am hoping to be able to make a completely fabricated from scratch tank, not using exhaust pipe/metal pipe like some people have done (which looks cool but wouldn't work with my frame.) Pics are always appreciated too!

Are you set on a metal tank?
There's all kinds of videos on Youtube for doing fiberglass tanks. Did the tank on my BTR build, first time ever doing anything with fiberglass, just watched a couple of YT vids. I built mine with no intention of ever putting fuel in it but it only would have taken nominal steps to do if I wanted.
