I kept remembering all of the nice mid 2000's Electra bikes from time to time, and
began my search locally. After a few days of looking, this one caught my attention, after scrolling past it several times. The main picture in the marketplace ad was of the battery, and I didn't want an E-bike honestly.
So anyway, I messaged the owner and asked if I could buy it without the motor/battery. He said sure, and he would knock $100 off of the price. After a few more minutes of talking, he said he would sell the whole thing for $50 more. I said WTH, and we made arrangements to meet after I got off of work. I tried it out one lap around the yard, and it had enough power to spin the front wheel and pepper me with lawn clippings, lol. I am sold.. I still haven't even ridden it more than 50-60 feet, since I work until after dark after the time change. I am going to get up first thing in the morning and hit the road, hehe.
Yeah, the battery is a bit ugly, and the motor weighs a metric f**k ton, but if it's as fun as the short test ride let on, I may leave it on until the battery dies at least. It makes me a little nervous, given how lithium
batteries can light up and burn the house or garage to the ground, and the battery is HUGE. I'll keep my fingers crossed it never happens...
