Well I made it a 40-45 mile round trip to meet a fellow member the other day. Started out at my girlfriend's house, rode about 4 miles to my house riding my bootlegger bike, picked up my trailer and two bikes, Then roughly 15 miles to the fellow member's house and hauled one bike and some parts on the trailer roughly 15 miles back to my house, Then another 4 miles to my girlfriend's place for her son's B-day party, and another 4 miles back to my house. Worth every mile, We got some great members here! Just wondered how many of you guys have done the same? What's the most miles you've put on your bike in a day?

Well... it's been a while, so maybe I shouldn't still talk about it, but the most hardcore ride I ever did was the MS150 from Houston to Austin. It was on my 45 lb single speed Dyno Roadster. I did the MS150 on this bike three years in a row but the first one was the best because I seriously overtrained for the event. The total distance was 184 miles. When I got to the overnight rest stop in LaGrange the odometer showed 92 miles, so I turned around and did 8 more miles so that I could say I did a century on the Roadster. 8) My average speed was 15.0 MPH for the two day event with the stock 54" overall gear ratio. The top speed I hit on a long downhill after a full speed charge and then laying down on the top tube in the "cruiser cannonball" position was 42 MPH. Way too fast to have only a single rear brake.

A friend and I did a self supported tour. We did 2 hundred miles in two days. The my riding buddy had some really bad knee problems.

It was a blast though!

Awesome bike man, That's an impressive ride. I've never done any marathons or anything but when I was a kid I was on my bike every day and I've never stopped riding. Just in the winter I work on them rather than ride them.

Now that's hardcore.

45 miles on 1 day. 90 degrees in the burning sun. From Rotterdam to Scheveningen. Went to the beach and back. Almost didn't make it. I'm not trained you see... Weather was too hot and I rode my crappy roadbike which had a bent fork, and got lost several times...

But I ride 6 miles (almost) every day. Rain or shine.

Thanks! I'll have to admit, after the third MS150 I built a badge bar for the Roadster with the ride pins on it, and then retired it from cross-country rides. These days I'm digging my Shimano 7-speed on my custom cruiser.

Yeah one thing I notice is it's not that bad in the city to ride 10 miles, but once you get out of city limits and the wind hits you it gets really tough with a single speed.

I was amazed at your ride to my place Sunday. Let alone at the trailer and bikes your brought up. And you managed to ride all that way and have the energy to talk bikes with me as well. I would be lucky to stand after all that riding. I'd say you all seem pretty hard core to me. I need to ride more and work on them less. I really don't plan to let winter get me down. I remember several years ago, I rode competitive mountain bikes and rode all year in every condition to get as tough as I could. Make a little ride in the snow seem like nothing. I have two mountain bikes and a klunker that I plan to get out and ride as much as I can this year. Unless old age sets in and I end up on the couch, eating doritos and watching tv while soaking old tired feet in hot water. I even plan to ride at work, I do property maintenance and have a few bikes with racks that I could haul tools on. Go green and get mean!  Peace and skiptooth chain grease. 8)

Wow you guys are really hard core. I do 9-11 miles four days a week. I'm going to try to keep it up until the weather gets too bad. I'm only getting into riding shape in the last year or so. I've dropped 20 lbs so far.
This spring I'm planning a 25 mile blast out on Long Island. I'll see how far I can take it from there.

about 25 miles on an old mongoose i just had garbaged picked by my grandmas house in colorado  had to go into town for new tires cause the ones on it were in horrible shape.now that was an interesting ride

You young guys with the legs. I never went much further than 50 miles when I was in my mid 20's mostley because I run out of matches......but off topic and using back, legs, arms, and hands I had raced the Blackburn Challenge (20 miles in the Atlantic Ocean) in a blistering 6hrs 47min nearly non stop in 25knot winds and gusting in 5 foot seas. At one point the lobster bouys were faster than I was and all in this 20 foot Grand Banks Dory weighing 350 pounds plus me. My hands didn't heal for a week .
All in this boat. http://home.comcast.net/~ppcorbett/pwpimages/CHAT2A.jpg
This pictures was taking in protected waters in small craft warning up to 45 knots by the trips end leg down wind. That was hardcore. Now I just bike.

That truly is hardcore. I am not going to mention sore legs or other body parts again. Tomorrow I ride, rain or shine. Man, that is some rough water for rowing. My hat is off to you my friend.

Longest ride to date was a 308k randonneuring ride. That was 192 miles in 15 hours. That was on my Raleigh Sojourn, not a rat rod bike.

Second longest ride was the Texas Time Trials this fall. I did 159 miles in 12 hours there.

I just recently finished my R12 award, which means riding a 200k ride in each of 12 consecutive months. In addition to those 12 rides, I've done 3 or 4 other 200k's in the last year. Also the Hotter-n-Hell 100 this summer. I log my miles over at bikejournal.com, and have almost 7,000 miles for the year now.

I've done several centuries and one 211k ride on my Worksman cruiser, but it is now relegated to grocery-getter and won't be going on any more long distance rides.

Oh, and I just turned 50.
