Hello Everyone,

I was wondering how you guys fill in the hole/holes left when cutting a downtube or chain tubes off a bottom bracket. I am making a recumbent based on two Nishiki road bikes. The male is at the rear, while the female frame is up front. The new center down tube that will connect the two will cover 3/4ths of the old hole, but part of it will still show. The new center down tube is parallel to the ground like on a tandem.

Would I find a tube the same OD of the bottom bracket and cut a filler patch? Or fill the area in with welding material?

Thank you in advance for reading - Rob

Get a rough measurement of the hole . Go to an auto parts store and buy a brass " freeze plug" .
Mig weld or use J.B. Weld it in to place :39:
