So I have a few sets of these awesome fatty 24x3.0 tires, but I didn't have a single fork that would fit them. So this last weekend when I was at my family gathering for Thanksgiving, My dad and I worked on it and this is waht we came up with...
Step 1
First, we marked where we needed extra clearance for the tire.
Step 2
Next, we heated up the area we were gonna compress, then squeezed with vice grips. We did this in 3 stages(on one setting, then tightened the bolt a little, then one list tightening setting) and used vicegrips so we would get a uniform compressed area. You can't tell, but we had a piece of ready-rod with nuts inside and outside of the wheel slots so the spaceing at the far end of the fork would stay even...
Step 3
Finally, let cool and check for clearance and paint.
Sorry for the crumby pictures... I used my cell phone...
