Your local hardware store will have washers to fit in between you sprocket and the locking nut. Put you sprocket on the crank, next put a washer on, and then thread on the locking nut. This will offset your crank very slightly, but solve you tire clearance issue. I had to offset my mag sprocket on my krate build, the 5 speed sprocket is so big I had to shim it out 1/4" to clear the chainstay. Hope this helps.
 
i used a headset washer the other night to solve this same problem because i read somewhere on this forums that a guy did that.
