So I am thinking about getting one of these for the grandkids. The first pic is the one we are thinking about. I thought all these were about the same. Why do some have lots of plastic some dont?. Even frame styles are different. The one we are looking at looks "naked" but I actually like the way it looks. Whats your opinion about the one we want? I will probably be riding it myself. Lady wants 25.00 and said its only been ridden couple of times. Been sitting under her deck.

Second picture is probably a later version. added fender to keep legs from rubbing on tires and getting burnt or chewed up.

these things are way cool I had the all plastic version back in the day the new ones seem to be more like a bicycle that steers from the rear though s it is possible it is missing a few parts but I think the top one was earlier and then they realized the wheel was dangerous so they put a fender on he later model but yeah they have one at my wal mart I think it is 79.99 so anything above 30 I would bail on it

The earlier model looks pretty easy to "adultize"...

Guess this is the newest style--complete enclosure/fairing. Been thinking of picking one of these up for the front freewheel hub, because I'd like to build a high wheeler someday. No shortage of these things on the used market, but typically overpriced or too far away.

My girls absolutely HATED the one we had..tough to pedal and steer..we ended up ditching it at the goodwill and went and bought an old skool big wheel instead..they've had hours of spin out fun ever since
I always had the big wheel when I was a kid. My friend had the green machine. I hated the green machine for the same reasons your girls did. Plus, if you're going fast, like down hill, the rear wheel steer got dangerous. Picture driving your car fast in reverse and turning. Instant spin out!!

I seem to recall from the one I had as a kid that the turning levers were down low by the seat...they must've changed it over the years. The Christmas I got my Green Machine was one of the best of my life, I thrashed that thing relentlessly

I never had a big-wheel or a green machine. I got a heavily used roller racer. It was the "I had to walk 40 miles uphill both ways" version of any rolling toy. Get them a roller racer and they will appreciate anything you replace it with:rofl: And if you want downhill danger... I'm not sure what was worse, baling out or attempting to ride it out
