I was going to wait for better weather to take nicer pics...But since I had the day off, I decided to go ahead and shoot some...I saw this bike on CL before Christmas but the guy pulled the posting like the next day  So I figured it was a goner...The family went away for Christmas/New Year and when we got back...Hey presto! There is was on CL again! :D So I contacted the guy and we were able to make the deal. I still can't believe I own it!

Yup! It's a keeper! I've got some work to do. The fork is bent. But I think I'm gonna buy a vintage springer for it. It's missing one of the tank decals, and I think the other one isn't correct. I also think that it was supposed to have the star-burst headbadge. :? I'm planning to re-paint it, get new decals maybe even have the tank re-chromed...I'm not sure yet. Man! I can't wait to ride it to work!!

"Looks nice as is, Don't paint it, It took 50 years to look like that, It will only be original once, Just my opinion" I agree . A springer would be sweet

Ditto. I remember the same discussion on you Collegiate. Find a rusty bike to paint and restore.

Yours to do with as you wish though. Very cool with the tank and 3spd.

Nice score!

I wouldn't paint it, it looks pretty nice plus its worth more that way. I would take it apart and buff it real good. It would look good with a period schwinn springer on it.

Thanks everbody! The reason I'm likely to paint is that someone already did... :| There's a big paint sag on the fork, and the pinstripe darts are already gone...Someone put some kind of funky stickers on the seatpost tube...So that's my rationale... :)

I'm pretty sure it's the original 1962 tank. The chrome is rusty and it does have a horn. But I haven't tried it yet. The guy I bought it from said it worked.

I have the correct 4 reflector crutch tip rack with the long seat clamp bolt if you're interested. I also have the correct seat tube decal in white with the criss-crossed lines. I just sold my black Jaguar a few months ago. I think it was a '61 and it didn't come with the starburst badge. PM me and maybe we can do some trading. Gary

that bike looks almost perfect as is, minus the stuff you mentioned. love the color scheme, too. i also got a schwinn this week, but it s a 08 schwinn point beach in new condition, rode only once for $20 (from a coworker). with my 12 -28 7speed rearend, i'll race ya both.
