Alright here it is, I have constructed a springer front end for my bike but yet I have two problems. The first one is on the dropouts on the fork, How do you enclosed the dropout so the bolt doesn't fall out? The second is how do you construct a shock from porch swing springs and a huge bolt. Btw I'm building a inverted springer fork:

i would probably weld some fat washers to the forks to make the hole complete.

as for the springer if you move the upper mount down, you could put the spring on top of it and run the bolt up through the spring, kinda like the old long spring seats, only upside down..
 
I could be wrong here, but I think that most "porch swing" springs are the kind that stretch out longer and spring back.

You will need to use springs that compress shorter and spring back.
