Hello,
I was looking for a skiptooth hub so I call I guy I know and he brought over a couple of New Departure Models. you know the normal stuff. Then he pull out a wheel from his truck. It has an Airman Hub with a different shape brake arm and heavy duty spoke. Does anybody know what kind of bike this was from. I'm kinda new at this bike stuff. Thank from the Newbie.

I believe Airman was the house brand name for bicycles sold by Spiegels department store. Many were built by Monark.

Tom,
I sent you a PM.

Joe

That reaction arm is triple xxxtra hottness, right there. Wish I could tell you what bike it was off of.

So cool, I didn't think about looking up the patents, I didn't know it was that easy. I never even heard of Spiegels department store. Must be before my time ;) Ha ha. triple xxxtra hottness. Never heard anything like before. Hope you don't mind but I might use that line sometime. Thanks everybody!

I love that airplane logo. I wish I had the whole bike. I moved to Springfield, IL so there got to be one in a barn somewhere.

Hey everybody, I wipe off some of the grease with a paper towel to see the hub. Eclipse Machine Divison Made in Elmira NY USA 36 11

Check this out I have another one of those hubs. To bad it's missing the arm. The guy I got the hubs from give me this and told me to find a cover and an arm and it will work fine. I didn't realize it was the same one until I wiped the hubs off and seen the same thing only this one is stamp 35 and the other is 36. I been get all kind of trade or sell offer. What's it really worth?

Is there a single letter - single number code toward the bottom let region of the lettering on the hub shell? ...something like K3 for example?

Looks like a morrow hub, except for the brake arm. I know my morrows have that same Eclipse stamp as well.

Put it on ebay at .99 and no reserve, you'll find out in 1 week exactly what it's worth... ;-)

Yeah, I bet I find out how much that way. I'll would get 2 bid and sell it for 2 bucks and pay ebay 3 bucks in fees.

That's a silly response.

2 bids? I'll wager you've received more PMs/offers than that from RRB members already.

Ebay is the best indicator of market value.

List it with sensible (correctly spelled) keywords in the title and you'll get plenty of action on an item that unique.

Or take the financial advice of folks on an internet forum pulling numbers out of their.....

A generic Morrow hub can go from $25 to $45 depending on year and condition. What does this novelty brake arm add in value for the person with an Airman bike? Only that person knows...
