wow. that's not even worth it. sounds like a bad investment to me. i doubt there are 273 people looking for second hand walmart bikes... or even new walmart bikes for that matter.

At $3005.00 and 273 bikes that works out to $11 per bike and most, like you said, are Walmart junk. I don't think there's more than $11 worth of scrap in each one. And if your a bike shop that's selling bikes on Craigslist your going to have to pay someone to service them before they get resold and that could cost you at least $25 per bike not including tires, tubes, cables, and grease. You'd have to pay to store them, and you'd have to creatively advertise, all of which cost money in your time.

What is your time worth? My billing rate for a custom build is $40/HR and that's cheaper than most shops and I've seen rates as high as $120/HR. So my time is worth much more than I could ever see in rehabbing 273 old junk bikes. This guy must have got caught up in a bidding war and couldn't admit when he had been had. The city will profit on this one for sure!

By my calculations he would have to sell each bike for over $80 to make a reasonable profit.

My ten cents...

I agree with Ironspade the time and effort involved in untangling that mess and getting it home somewhat intact would eat up any potential profit at that price.

Who the Milton Bradley has $3000+ to spend on a pile of junkers? Seems like a waste. Unless you weld them end to end and set some records :D

wow! thats a nice sized bike collection.i like the red scwinn and the flat black bmx bike. if i lived closer i would help you just to get first chance at buying some!if you pack them tight and in a double layer with the uhaul and the trailer you should be able to make one trip. take some wood and blankets with to put on top of the first layer, that way the top layer isnt falling to the floor and getting tangled up with the others.
