Love the bike,looks awesome.:113:
I have a higgins to rebuild, and your tank idea is a winner...
Hey thanks, feel free to borrow the concept.

Like them in pic 3...
I think my wife agrees with you on number 3. I back painted the others satin black which will match the stem tube headbadge. When dry the letter faces get sanded.

Porkchoppd Custom Bicycles RULE! Always treated me right. Great to have someone local who understands us.

Bike is lookin great Ed!

Bike is looking friggin awesome! Love the custom machined name, for what its worth I also like the placement in pic 3:thumbsup:
Number three it will be, thanks man.

I painted the nameplates

I tried sanding the top surface of letters with 800 grit but ended resorting to scraping the excess off with an exacto knife and then finish sanding revealed what I was looking for.

The second one I scraped and then sanded which worked better. The paint wasn't completely cured out.

The finished result I like, mounting next up.

I went looking for brass pan head screws but ended up with SS. I had to drill out the nameplate holes to accommodate the #8 screws. Guess the SS works with the aluminum silver.

I did a locate and marked holes with an awl and drilled pilot holes. They mounted up OK.

In looking at the bike as it now sits, I think I see a couple of things worth tweaking. Still need to show validation for the name, kinda like an "Apple Computer" reveal.

Started a few photos...

Just a small thing but I found some brass pan head screws and switched out the nameplate mounting hardware thanks to True Value.

I also changed the crossbar mounting straps to 1" size which allowed me to move the bar up and added end covers.

Think I read where full models are not to be used. My wife had some new polish and it seemed to compliment the bike.

If you do a search for "iAM" on the web you'll come up quite a few organizations and companies using the "IAM" acronyms. No one has ever questioned the usage in this bike build.
So here is the logic as I'm ready to do some final photos. I found this NOS radio in the original packaging in my favorite antique shop. It is a Radio Shack product and pre-bar code. It is an AM radio which I've found seems to be limited to talk radio junk and sports. Seems like I remember listening to music as a teen.

Thus the name "iAM HIGGINS"!

Nice!

Luke.

Cool addition and it fits the bike so well. I guess that's because the bike was somewhat built around it. As a kid, I had a Sears AM/FM radio that was very much like that one.

Hey thanks for noticing. I picked up the radio a couple of months before the Build-Off started. When I found the frame the idea was born. I thought someone would question the bracket since I had put it on before I posted a photo showing the radio on the bike. I tried some photos in our woodsy backyard this AM.

I noticed we had the start of an overcast day this morning so I hauled iAM HIGGINS out for some photo duty.
