:?

Don't know the model name but it is an early 60's AMF/Roadmaster built bike. I redid one for my dad last summer. I will throw some pics of that one up later.

Would like to see what it looked like brand new. Hopefully someone has an original pic or model name. So far is impossible to find. :(
Thanks for the info.

I think it was called a Sonic Flyer. The roadmaster badged version was called a Skyrider.

This is from my Roadmaster. The chainguard is a replacement, but it is a WF chainguard for a Silver Flyer model. On yours, it may not have had a specific name, it looks like your guard just says Western Flyer. The tank might have a name, but from what you've cleaned off already, it doesn't look like it. As for the age of your bike, it has an AMF Roadmaster frame, with the seat stem with tightens like a handlebar stem, and the star sprocket. Same as mine. I've researched a lot, the star sprocket was made around 1958-1962, and that stem was made a little earlier, but after 1958.

These frames have good angles, they make a great cruiser. Also, it looks like everything but the tires and seat are original and the paint may be good under the blue. The yellow and white pinstripes look good.

wouldn't surprize me if you could remove the rest of that blue paint and actually reviel the name and decals.

Can anyone give me any info on this bike?? I know its a Western Flyer, but other than that I know nothing about it. The tank opens up on one side and has a battery mount bracket there and a wire coming out for the headlight. I looked for some sort of serial number, but found nothing. I've heard these things can be difficult to figure out who made it for western flyer. Anyone have any ideas??

That one is Murray built and number should be on the rear dropout. It appears to be early-mid 60s.

I found one on the power google search that looked like this one dated 59... I really doubt this one or that one were made in 59. I'll see if I can find the serial number just knowing murray made it helps out thanks.

Actually that style frame was introduced in 1958, and used until the early 70s. They redesigned it and lost the pointy dropouts for the 78 Monterey, and made those into the mid 90s! Nice splitty, btw! -Adam
