First of all, hello to ya'll out there.....

My name is Japie(Let's say "Jackie" in English) and i'm 37 Y.O.

I'm from Zaandijk, a small town near by Amsterdam in The Netherlands.....

I've got my own bicycle-shop for a little more than a year now in a town near to where i live.
(Japie's Fietsies Assendelft)

I have been looking a couple of few times "over your shoulders" to see all the very VERY! cool bikes on this site.

When i was a little boy my daddy gave me the most beautifull gift a kid could wish on the age of 9......

A! RALEIGH! CHOPPER!
It was a second hand, and the one thing i remember was that the seller had another strange looking bike....

I asked what is was....He jumped on the saddle and yelled "THIS IS A SWINGBIKE! NEVER SEEN ONE!?"

I remembered the cool sideways driving untill the day of today....;)

The Raleigh ended(as far as i can remember) on the scrapyard after a few years...

I'ts been stuck in my mind forever....

Last year i found the aluminum remake of the Raleigh Chopper about 200km's from my house.....

Did'nt matter, i just had to have it!
raleigh01.jpg

(I modified it a little, the remake's don't have the typical bananaseat and "middle-shifter")

My little nephew saw it hang in my shop and yelled "COOOOLLLLL! I WANT ONE!"
So i found another one last month....:

(This was before i restyled it a little for him)

But the Swingbike's kept crossing my mind, i was thinking to build one myself of an old Beachcruiser....

Found this one for just 25 Euro's on the biggest Dutch-buy/sell site Marktplaats.nl:

Had this wheelset stashed for it:

swingcruiser01.jpg

After some welding and flexing it looked like this:

swingcruiser04.jpg

I'ts my first try-out and the way i made it it can't "swing" fully because the chainwheel touches the frame, so i'll need to weld a swing-limiter somewhere, but i like the looks for so far(Yesterday i tried it, and it swings well! ;))

Aanndd......
As we say here in NL, "the blood goes where it can't" i founded another cool icon from the 70's on the first mentioned website......

The HIGHRISER chopper-bike....
Told my GF, i'm sorry babe, but i just have to have that!!!!

So we jumped in our bus and drove the way for 2,5 hrs.
highriser.jpg

There was also a 25 yrs. old BMX together with the Higriser.....

Sooo.....
I've got some cool bikes now, these pics are not all of them....

And i was looking around again(Yes, it's one of my hobby's:p) on the site, GUESS WHAT I FOUND!?!?!?!?!?

swing02.jpg

That's the real deal, ain't it?!!

I had to drive 4,5 hrs to get it, but did it with love!!
It was in a "ok" state, i've changed some parts already....

Hope you'll like the pix, and if you want i can post some more of my pictures....:)

As we say over here in NL, GROETEN! (Greetings)
Japie!

Welcome from Massachusetts!! Great story and great bikes!!
Sounds like you'll fit right in here
a vw fan too?

@ Deorman, thnxx! :)

& @ Junknutz, Yes, FlatFourVeeDubz RULE!

I've been lookin' 4 a T3 a few months ago, but it seems like allmost every VW has become to the "Cult"-state wich means i can't afford one...:(

Found a Chevy Cargo Van instead of the T3, but had to sell it because of the HUGE! gas consumption....
Fuelprices over here are wayyyy to high to keep rollin' a Chevy....:(

Now i'm riding a FIAT Doblo 1900Diesel....Runs nice, does'nt drink as much(as me :p )

Thnxx again, & PEACE! :)

Nice bikes and welcome!

I was in Munich Germany about this time last year and saw a Raleigh Chopper the same color combo and thought it was strange to see a muscle bike in Europe after seeing all of the 3 speed English type commuter bikes.

But I guess that there are some over there ay? After seeing the proof of your finds!

Monday i bought this Phat Lil' Chopper.
Wanted to restyle it a little and then sell it again...

But my GF liked it a lot, she fits just right on it so i decided not to sell it....:

I'm looking for(How do you call it correctly?) star-rims in 20"......

I think it'll look very cool if i mount wheels like this in it:
batavuscompact.jpg

This are alloy Grimeca rims...Had it in much bikes i had... 26" & 28"...
I like them a lot....
(The bike on this pic is not mine but i'm trying to find one, it's a Batavus Compact)

And yesterday i bought this funny one...:
velo01.jpg

It's a replica of the good ol' Vélocipede...
It has a 27" front and a 16" rear-wheel.

I restyled it a little because i did'nt fitted so well on it.
Changed the handlebar and stem:
velo02.jpg

velo03.jpg

Also another(better) saddle and a handle for the rear-brake.....

I will not sell it, it's meant to put in my shop for decoration!

I've got some more bikes, if ya'll like it i will post them here....;)

@ Carrotsnax, yes, there is a whole "Chopperbike-scene" over here in the Netherlands.
Take a look on the site http://www.chopperdome.com, it's a shop in Amsterdam, they make and sell really cool bikez 'n stuffz....:)
They also have a nice amount of customize-parts for your bike....

Last year i bought an old Specialized carbon racebike from a customer.

My GF wanted a special(ized:)) bike built by me....

It was in bad shape, but the overall-conditions were good.
specialized00.jpg

She did'nt liked the race-handlebar so we decided to mount a ATB/downhill handlebar.
Also my old JD comp. suspension-stem and shifters on the bar.....

It looked nice, but was'nt my "style".
So after searching a few months for a nice wheelset i found a set of Mike Burrows Giant composite rims.
specialized01.jpg

I mounted 2 new Schwalbe Lugano red/black outer-tires....
specialized02.jpg

I think it looks really great, whaddayathinkofit?!

I illmost regret i gave it to her...;)

Soooo....

Yesterday i bought an old totally rusted Mongoose BMX-bike.

It was really ugly, but cheap and....

There were 12 spoked plastic star-rims in it!

So i mounted them in my Phat Lil' Chopper....:
sterwielen01.jpg

sterwielen02.jpg

sterwielen03.jpg

I also ordered a 20" banana-seat from 8Ball Lowriders and a 26" sissy-bar....

The bike made instant wheelies when i sat on it, so i decided to lower the front-end with 5/6 centimeters....

Now the bike runs great, and the steering is much better than stock!

I think it turned out really nice like this!
My GF is not gittin' it no more...:p

The original rear-rim had a coaster brake, the plastic one has a freewheel hub...

I need to mount 1 or 2 brake-calipers.

A weld-mod is needed at the rear end, but that'll turn out OK i guess.

The front fork needs a hole with thread-tapping(did i said that right?)

When it's done i'll post some pix again here....;)

I've
lassen.gif
a plate between the frame, just above the rear wheel.
The brake-caliper was an old one which i had for a long time.

I'm not sure if i mount a brake on the frontwheel....;)

I'll post a pic soon...!
