Is an Old Mongoose WildCard too classic to mod/update?

I got this a few years ago. I think it's about 15 years old. Boy rode it a bit, but it's not a satin bright color and the chain ring is soo big, etc. So I wonder, is this thing too classic or desirable to modify/update? It's probably heavier than all the new ones.

Thanks in advance. I know nothing about BMX and what is special. I do think this thing has really good components and is well built.
