I was hoping to get a feel if there'd be any interest in my building stretch frames or doing physical modifications to cruiser frames to order. Is there anybody who might want some frames made into stretches, gender re-assignments, lowered, etc?

Talk to Uncle Stretch....he may have a thing or two to tell ya about this ambition.

Well...it was a case of everybody saying they wanted one until it came time to sell them.

Que crickets chirping...

To order, with a 50% deposit is the minimal way to do small time business without paying for the privilege of working.

You might want to read through this thread (with your parents).......Because you won't be, but they will (It'll make sense when you click on the topic).........Remember what state you live in (MA).

Yeah, that's unfortunately true, I hadn't thought of it. I think that's pretty much the end of the idea.

Not necessarily! Uncle Stretch had the right idea, you can "Inc."....Puts liability at a minimum. I'm NOT saying don't do it. Just look at the WHOLE picture. Don't let today's sue happy society stymie your abilities and dreams, just cover your butt. Another way is to make bikes and sell them as ART. You've got a lot of talent, NEVER stop using it...............

There's more to it. There are ways to protect yourself and some have the advantage of improving your craft.

First is customer awareness. Make sure it is understood that these are show bikes and not inherently stable. Disclaimer / buyer information / waiver is part of the purchase.

Another is to only work on stuff that you are confident with. I'd say part of that is only new fresh unrusted steel for the mods not pieces cut off other junked bikes. I know these are rats, but just don't primer after you braze or weld and the look with get there soon enough. I think the stretch bike looks great and I'd be happy to ride it, just wouldn't want to guarantee or warranty it.

Just a couple thought.

The stuff I build and sell runs 460 - 700 volts so I've got my own problems.
