One of the things I like the best about this site is the sense of community for ideas, encouragement, and of course parts. Here's the list of the pieces I accumulated for the bike shown below.

@ weakfish- Frame 1930's Elgin

@ P.N.A. - Dogleg Crank

@ ifitsfreeitsforme- Seat and grips

@ind-chuckz- wheels and front fork

@bikesnbuses- Chain adjusters

(me) Truss Rods and Brackets

Schwalbe- Fat Franks 2.35 Creme Tires

(my parts stash) Vintage Torrington Pedals

The Chrome Shop - Re-chrome Truss rods, stem, seat post, crank

Frigodesign.com- Powder Coating

I've been searching pictures and old advertisements, is my bike an Elgin, if so who made it since Sears did not manufacture the bikes that they sold. Your bike has a large gap for a tank, looks like 3 or 4 inches. McCauley made a tall tank to fit bikes like these (# 1001 may be hard to find, and expensive). I believe that Shelby had a model 300 in the 1930's that looks quite similar. Any ideas who made your Elgin?

No idea at all!

Your bike turned out great.
I always try to keep track of who I get my bike goodies from and it's always a blast to post up the parts list showing all of the contributors.
