That is a big BUMMER :x Tell him that it will probably cost him $1,000 to fix them up and he might say keep them :?

You joke, but I just did a rough estimate for the work he wants done, parts (with a small mark-up), powder coating the Columbia, and my labor. Came to a grand total of $1300

Some of you bike shop guys help me out here.

On the trike for instance-
New 26" hoop, 36 spokes, 3 tires, 3 tubes and a seat came to $146
$50 for labor and $30 to deal with the taco wheel.
Grand total of $226

Is that out of line?

Not at all, That's cheap really. To re-lace a rim I normally charge $10 for tear down, $15 for putting it back together, and $15 to true it out, and as a courtesy I tear the hub apart, clean, oil, and re-grease everything. Plus any parts that are needed. Or I just sell them a re-built junk Huffy rim off of a junker acquired bike for $25.

Having worked in a bike shop for a few months, and just as a guess based on what I saw being charged, that seems pretty well spot on.

WOW  I was just joking, maybe he will let you keep them :?

Talked to him before work today and he started lowering his visions for the bike. Rattle can instead of powder coat, used parts instead of new. Still no go ahead to start though.

I'd still ask him if he wanted to trade off some of the labor.....Might get lucky getting 1 out of the 3.
