No way to get that fork to really fit.

So, back to the higgins fork. Strut rod plate doesn't fit with the headset.

Cut in the chain. Had to add some plack to fit it.

Getting close. Still need a 175mm 8 spline arm. The weld job may be fine, yet it may not be.

I got this rock shox Judy fork for my birthday at the first of the month. 1-1/8 conversion executed...

Ground the cups and head tube a bit with the dremel and used the mallet to set them.

Threaded the steerer. That was a bit of a pain to get started. Went smoothly once started.

Trimmed the brake bosses off of Judy. So the wheels would fit. Shied the quill stem.

Put it all back together with the new arms.

Worked to get this ready for the first off road ride. Tomorrow will rain. Will work out another day soon.

Sorry to hear about the job situation. I was about 25 yrs into my career when I was forced to make a change. In my case, it worked out for the better and I've got high hopes and confidence that yours will as well!

The build is absolutely klunker kool at its finest! The fact that you have had 3 forks on it, and they all fit like a glove; proves the tightness of the build and the skill of the builder.

@MattiThundrrr say right, and OJ say tight!

I like the late day wall shots (or is it early day?) for a final photo, unless you grab one out in the high desert elements. And yes, it's taking it's time to warm up in the Southwest this year.

Judy was my favorite fork in the 2000s. Was trying to find the rare 1" threaded.. I was lucky to have change.1" to 1-1/8 before. Irregardless of steerer size, they react well in the Rockies and Sierras.

The thought of a solid fork on the MTB trails around here... my hands would probably hurt for days. Any off road that I do, I try to have a soft nose and a hard tail...

I talked to a few friends who got it last ges years, and they weren't happy how it happened, but are in better jobs than they were. One absolutely loves his move to AWS.
Will take this as it comes, I have about 5 weeks left, till the door hits me in the rear.

I'm on almost a half acre. The shots are the east side of the yard, under my pime trees, about an hour before sundown. And taken about 10-15 minutes to have other pine trees ahade the area.

I know a spot near the base of black mountain in Red Rock with these tall black graniteboulders, with red rock in the background that would be perfect for final shots.

I have time to scout out that and a few others areas as spring starts next month. Can't wait for the warmup.

The more I ride this bike the more I love that red band. Shifts so much easier tha the KT 2 speeds.

Stopped by a buddy's house up the street and he was just wrapping up the LS he's been building.

He has a Bassett he built hanging around.

He saw I was close to finishing up the bike and gave me this spacer for it when I trim down the steerer tube.

Seat post clamp upgrade. No dropper posts for 7/8 posts, better than a bolt when on the mountain.

He spent all weekend assembling it. Should be about 550 horse when it's all done. Heads should arrive by Wednesday.

Going into a 62 Chevy II. Will be a little rocket when it's done.

I was riding JC around the neighborhood and her seat is not as comfortable as it used to be.

So, I pulled a seat post from the parts closet ( shh, the wife doesn't realize parts are in here )

And stole a seat off of my old specialized soft tail.

Well the post wont.go down the hole. It needs to be reamed. Job for another day.

So I took the short seat post and mounted the seat on the opposite end.

Fits in pretty well.

I'd like to see that some day when it is finished if your friend will let you post it. When Chevy started offering a V8 in the first Gen. Chevy II they were front sump pans, no good for drag racing. Moroso and Milodon both offered rear sump pans with a notch for the drag link to clear and pass through. I put a 327 in a '62 that way.

When I sold my 63 Chevy II back on 2001, I sold the 350 as well as the front/mid sump pan I had acquired for the 6 to V8 conversion.

That was the car I had when the wife and I went on our first date back in 1991. She realllly disliked that car. She still dislikes it, and I haven't had it for more than twenty years.

If he will let me share pics, will post. He's putting a lot of really cool stuff into it.

I have never seen another one like it. I thought it was interesting when I first saw it at a swap meet, I picked it up used about 2016.

Knockoff? Maybe... No idea. It doesn't say Made In England, anywhere on it.

It is a comfortable seat on the uphill. More so that that Person's wedge.

Been considering putting this white/red/black Selle Italia on it instead.
