My girlfriend Kate asked me to make a bespoke kick bike for her. Here it is introducing "Johnny Rockets"

Features include (from front to back]
  • Whitewall Tyres
  • red rims/black frame
  • Oversized Forks
  • 45 degree rake forks
  • mini ape hangers
  • Foam grips
  • timber deck
  • foot brake
  • mini kick stand
  • 3inch rear tyre with solid rims.

With the exception of the front tyre, it all came off the hard rubbish, and was custom built to my girldfriends
dimensions.

  • The frame was custom built using part of 26inch frame, with some steel from a swing, and a bed, plus some steel
    straps from a wheelbarrow.
  • The rear wheel came off a wheelbarrow, as did the rear axel
(which I hung up side down).
  • The front wheel is 20 inch.
  • The rear foot brake is custom built using a spring from a common
folding scooter, plus a rusty old mudgard.
  • The kick stand came off a Huffy kick bike that I modified to the point that the stand
    no longer fit.
  • I painted the whitewalls on the rear tyre.
  • bars from a 16 inch kids bike
  • The ends of the tubes are plugged with chair feet.

The bikes been named "Johnny Rockets" by Kate.
Here are some more pics.

I'm sure she'll enjoy it...NICE job! 8) ....Very COOL looking!

Good point Dan

Last night I did a paper mock up, Orange flames, leaving most of the board with visible woodgrain.
The local skate shop sells a neon orange grip tape by the inch, I'll do the outline with an artline pen, and cut the outline with scissors.

I'll mull over it for a few more days, but will probably post back in a few days with some new pics.

I got some grip tape the other day for a few bucks, draw some flames on it with an artline pen...

.. cut out the flames, and stuck them onto the deck. I'm pretty happy with the results.
Thanks for the suggestion.
