Yeah.. I was not wild about that Cottered crank…. I made sure that thing was free and straight before I bought it. We’ll see what happens!
The threading maybe different to some french bikes don't have reverse threading or was it Italian depending on the year your mixie may even have standard threading
 
I actually got this bike late last fall: a friend from Syracuse Classic Bikes scored this from someone’s trash and knew I did skinny bikes…. He gave to me.

-he actually drove it to my house and I couldn’t just take it so I threw him a $10 spot and said have a drink on me!

This thing is all there and the wheels are straight. I’m gonna clean it, tune it and ride it! -keeping the rust!

Judging by the wear on the brake pads, that bike was barely ridden. It looks early 70's from the cottered cranks and components. Original tires too, they match. I would do like Ratrod did, dismantle and shine every part, then have a new looking bike. The chrome on that bike is probably good along with the paint. It's in better shape than my old Hercules was and will be a nice ride with new tires. Rust will look good too.:thumbsup:

Does it have a serial number?

So….. I dig what you’re saying, but I just don’t have the time for that!

I’ll hit it with some naval jelly, a super scrub and put new tires on it, but this thing actually feels super light and fast, so, I just want to get it comfortable and ready to rip around the lake!

Here’s the serial number: quite the tag!

Just a cleaning is fine.

I did some research as I knew very little about those bikes.

"Through the 1950s and 1960s the frame numbers were usually 6 digits long. Usually stamped on the dropout or the BB shell.
In the early 1970s, 7 digit frame numbers began to appear. (Sometimes on a metal strip on the BB shell)
Some time in the year 1976, the first 3 digits of the 7 digit frame numbers had 1 digit for year and 2 digits for month. This is the start of date encoding in frame numbers of French made Peugeots."

So, it was made before 1976, because month could only go to 12.
It's 7 numbers so it's early 70's.
I'll guess the first digit is year, 1972. Unless they made over 2 million bikes in the early 70's.

Uh oh….. finally got a hot rod…

I’ve been looking for an aluminum SL bike at a bargain price for some time.

This guy needs a good cleaning and maybe a lube, but boy…. This thing is tight n light!

I realize this guy is still a bit dated, but compared to the lead-sleds I ride, this thing will be a rocket.

The frame is on the big side, which I prefer. I’ll lower the seat and shorten the stem and grip and rip!
