murray built middleweight bike, the three stars on the fork would be a good way to figure out what brand exactly. dont know off hand though.

just lookin at the faded seat tube decal, it looks like a sears to me.

probably a flightliner from the looks of the frame but could be something else too

i found these numbers on the rear were you bolt the rear wheel on
# 502

looks like mines missing the badge on the head tube, any one know what one belongs on it?

sears had a few different ones, most likely it was diamond shaped with a round sears logo. they had the push in rivet looking things holding them on instead of screws.

I think CCR is right. It could be a JC Higgins badge (earlier Sears Brand) but I don't think the rivets are far enough apart. The number 502 was a code number for Murray middleweight cantilever frames, I believe. in the old catalogs, the classic Murray cantilever frames were called "The Model 502 Frame". My original Jc Higgins had that same stamp on the bottom bracket.

JC higgins and i could also make out the word sears a little better

cool jch!!! i had this cruiser that a realater gave me years ago, rode it for a few years, knowing only that it was an old bike. went to paint it a few years later and as i sanded down the chainguard, i saw the words jc higgins deluxe. most jch bikes were built by murray (hence the murray ring, who also built for western flyer) but some, including mine were built by huffy. i think in 64', sears dropped the jch name plate and called them sears. id guess yours would be a 62' to 65'.

Nice find. I have a real similar bike right down to the patina :D Mine was missing the chainguard and headbadge. Just assumed it was a Murray made something or another. Mine had issues like a broke weld where the canteliver and down tube meet plus a bent fork.

I forgot to mention, I chose one of these for the space bike build off, because I found that it was able to be dropped low and still able to use a crank with 6 inch arms. If you wanted you could use a full bent low rider springer, without to much trouble. I was just to cheap! viewtopic.php?f=30&t=13939
