ok i have a couple questions for ya !!!! i have a chance 2 buy a bunch of old schwinn stuff ...a ton of s-2 wheels and all of em appear 2 be in great shape ....paint looks really good on em as far as i can tell ....all kept inside !!! what im wondering is what the vaule of these would b ???....did they make s-2s in all three sizes ? i thought i seen some 20 inchers that looked like s-2s ...im goin back monday 2 get into it a little deeper and see what all is there ...and some pics and serial numbers ....its gonna take alot of work 2 get all this stuff out where i can get a good look at everything ...so im tryin 2 get a feel of some prices 2 even see if its worth it or not !!! i seen atleast 60 to 75 rims ...boxes of parts ...whole bikes ...this guy said he bought alot of stuff outa the schwinn factory when it closed ? hmmmm what year did that happen ? when did they stop makin s-2s anyway ...did they repop em at all ? any help will be awsome.... OK, until someone that knows what they are talking about answers this - yes they did make S-2s in more than one size because I have a matched set of Schwinn 24" S-2 wheels. And yes repops were made but they sell for a fortune - compared to non Schwinn rims. You may be sitting on a Gold Mine! Good luck! Robert
i knew they did 26s and 24s ...but wasent sure about 20s ....man i gotta get this stuff i have a feeling i could triple my investment mayb more ...and plus there r some cool bikes in the deal also ....ill prolly b goin back monday for further investigation ...and ill b gettin pics !!!! i hope ur rite about the gold mine statement ....i could use some good luck !!!! thnx MIKE

I wouldnt get too excited unless they were chrome, those are the money makers, 20" chrome S-2's would sell to the Stingray nuts, the 26" chrome S-2's to the phantom/ballooner crowd ... painted would be harder to sell for large amount though. Chrome S-2's were also made in Hungary when the Schwinn plant closed in the 80's I believe, not 100% sure on that though but they were made outside of the US at one point. They were made again for the 1995 anniversary Phantoms and Deluxe cruisers.
the last S2 rims were done in mexico and are easy to id because the knurles are closer together and softer stamped. not sure where the ones schwinn did on the repops were made but they are much more like the older ones. i would say if the price is right go for it but like said before only chrome s2 rims are really worth a lot. painted versions although cool are not worth nearly as much. and yea they did a 20 i think they even did a 16.

lots of painted s-7's before 1967 ... the painted rims were on the lower end models, chrome on the fancier more expensive bikes, i've only seen unmarked drop center wheels on older stuff like prewar and dx style bikes though they may have used others as well.
well crapola ...i may be thinkin the wrong rims then ...LOL they may b s-7s i guess ...and i suppose they arent worth anything...LOL i gotta get back up there and get some pics posted so i can see what the heck i have ....LOL almost all of em r painted withe 2 stripes on em ....i was thinkin s-2s for some reason ? oh well im sure what he wants for all of it just the bikes alone is worth it !!!
I have seen several people find large amounts of bicycle parts that someone bought out old supplies. There is money to be made ,but it won't be a give me. Moving them all to your spot and then trying to put them all in some order so you can find stuff , is a lot of work. Then a million questions and shipping quotes will hit you at once . After that , there is the actual boxing and shipping. It won't be a freeby. A while back someone , I can't remember who ,bought out several old 18 wheelers full of bikes...hauled them home an opened a bike shop.....don't remember how that came out. :roll: Bet he earned every penny he made.
oh i agree on the work part of it ....i do some shipping now on a small scale ..its not that huge a lot ....mayb a medium sized trailer ...i just wanna make sure i can re-coop my investment and make a little in the process ya know!! all i know is if i dont buy this stuff they guy swears he is gonna scrap it all ....i just cant let that happen !!!!
