With the new bearings (and cups?) I would give it some time to wear in and seat the bearings. Then it'll need adjustment as there will be a little play in the cranks. If it still makes noise, it could be a crack in one of the cups. I usually hear a click when I stop pedaling on my old 1 speed, but it's from the rear hub.

New bearings + old cups...yes, it could also be from the hub even if it's new. Thanks Barry!

On a mountain bike I hear a click too. But my click was when I put a ton of pressure on the it. Rebuilt the bottom bracket a few times and finally found out it was my pedals. Don't know if this helps it might

Haha, if it's not one thing it's another, I also suspected the new coaster hub. I think I had about 3-4 rounds with this BB with loose bearings until I decided to use retainer bearings, there's still a click but you can hardly hear it now or sometime not at all. :)

Old bikes have odd clicks and bangs and other noises. Had an old car that made odd noises. I gave the car to my brother. One day hopped in it and didn't hear the odd noise told my brother that it stop making that odd noise. There must be something wrong with it. But he told me I was nuts. Few days later it stopped running. So who was nuts?

That's a nice frame. The serial number may give you the year of it.

Earlier Joe had said his frame was a Patria, made in the Philippines years ago.

Thanks wildcat for the reply.. yes i saw the Serial number at the bottom bracket. and here's the number but we need to take off the excess dirt or paint to see the other number.

So here are the photos from this past weekend. Not much images of the process, I was too focused on the build to take photos. I also had to spend some quality time with the family hence the speed of this build. Anyway, hope you guys like the outcome :)

Welcome to the website! You should post up an intro and a build thread on this bike.

Thanks, man! Yeah it was a good deal. I really had to snatch it up immediately before someone beats me to it. The bike/cruiser scene here is getting bigger every year, good for the community but bad for those looking for a good deal, haha!

Cottered cranks ftw!
You might want to put a front handbrake on there, in case you lose the coaster brake somehow.

A new crankset that I got from the bike shop here was the reason I lost my brakes last week. Along with a hub failure or broken chain, the chain wheel can come loose from the crank and then there's no coaster brake. I couldn't even pedal forward either, the weld or whatever holds it to the crank arm gave out. It's a brand new part too. I never had one fail before, but all the others were made in England.

If that's a Columbia, after 1936, the serial should begin with a letter. That one is hard to read, maybe it can be wirebrushed or something to show it better.

Hmmmm...

front & rear tires: P550
coaster hub: P500
rims: P500/pair
front axle: P180-200
spokes & spoke nipples: P500 front and rear

I hope this helps.
