In addition to the nuts and bolts does anyone have a box full of misc. crap like this? I've been digging in this box while making my latest headlights.

DUM DUM DUM .. I see the infamouse green wheels sets lurking in the wings.....

You finally get tired of running down to Ace for 2 or 3 bolts and you buy them
by the pound at a Tractor Supply.

That's great you noticed that! They're in transition right now in between a bike and the attic.

@Uncle Stretch that's a nice stash of nuts and bolts. I don't like to go to the hardware store when I need it. Instead I occasionally go and just buy misc. nuts, bolts and washers to keep on hand. Then dump them all in one can or drawer

@MplsCoaster I remember as a kid my best friends Dad doing the glass jars with nailed lids. Always thought that was pretty cool. He also traced around his tools that hung on the peg board.

I have many random containers of nuts and bolts and small metal parts, the most frustrating is one of those big clear plastic barrels that cheese balls come in.

I go to dad's garage and I'm jealous, he has coffee cans clearly marked, "Metic" "Standard" "Washers" "Lock washers" etc...

I guess it's my inheritance.

Actually, I take that back...I prefer Uncle Stretch's boxes of crap. :D
And I was going to offer to send you mine just for the cost of shipping

Most small bike parts and other things I try to keep organized.

For some reason though most nuts and bolts all go in the same drawer.

My boxes are about $20 and you can fill them up with all the different sizes at
A Tractor supply for about $25. Pretty cheap investment. You save that much
in gas going to a hardware for what you need. I think they are about $2.50 a pound
for grade 8's. All sizes are the same price per pound.

35 or so years of saving assorted nuts, bolts, screws, washers, etcetera from bikes, toys, cars, dirtbikes and random machinery plus 35 or so years of riding bmx equals lots of Vans sneaker boxes full of hardware. I started out emulating my grandfather with the steel coffee cans but I've found the Vans boxes are easier to stack and easier to dig through.
I'll spend hours digging through them before I break down and go to the hardware store. Fortunately I can usually find what I need in one of them.

I've got boxes of nuts and bolts, plus I have a big box of misc. bike parts, seat posts, forks, bearings, seat post bolts, whatever I've stripped of junk bikes. Now my bikes friends come over and search through my stuff. I can't believe how many times we find just the right piece. But they are alway great at giving me what I need for my latest project. It's an awesome two way street. Gary
