So what's the deal with the laid back seat post? Is it just for looks or can I put on on my bike, lower the seat and still have full leg extention while peadaling? I hate riding a bike with my keister up in the air and my feet a foot off the ground. I've tried an Electra and loved it. I just don't see one in my financial horizon at the moment. Would a laid back seat post be able to lower the seat?

Just an FYI that you won't need a laid-back seatpost if you buy an Electra made after 2006. These cruisers have patented technology that stretches out the frame while also lowering the center of gravity.

You can find great deals on Electras on Craigslist.
I bought an $800 aluminum-framed 3-speed chopper (Ghostrider) for $200 and a $600 aluminum-framed Hawaii 3-speed for $150. Once, I even bought a steel-framed Hawaii 3-speed for $40!

Every bike I own has a laidback post on it, super comfortable to ride with the extra leg room and it takes pressure off your knees. Definately try it, you won't go back. :D

A banana seat wouldn't give my bike a look I'd like. I'm also interested in the most recommended brand. I'm a big guy and don't want it to break or bend on me.
