Y'all thought I was gonna sit this thing out? I don't think so. It will be a tall order building a bike in just the time remaining but I got this!

Anyway I picked up this frame a while back from a flea market for $20 and recently came into some interesting wheels for it. Goodyear 24" cruiser.

So enter wheels 20x2.80 tires on extra wide 20" wheels.

Debating on putting the fenders back on and bob the rear a bit.

Glad you are jumping in brother!
Those knobby little fatties look very cool on that frame.

Well shoot... The frame I was planning to use I found out it has a severely bent fork. Didn't notice it during disassembly so I am on hold for a minute. Hopefully getting a new frame this Sunday so I'll still be in the build off but I might be hosed as I'll have to order some parts on ebay and they might not be in in time to make the deadline but I'm going to post the progress anyway and keep my fingers crossed shipping is fast. More to come!

You could reattach it, then use an old front wheel to "gently" straighten it by reversing the fork and making sure the wheel is lined up. Then bump it into a solid wall little by little until it's straight. But it will have been bent twice so it won't have the strength of a new fork. Maybe a springer fork would work well.

Well I have decided to throw in the towel on this frame and use my frame swap option and build my Schwinn Predator 24. A tribute to my childhood. The days gone by when I used to drag home every bike in the neighborhood and build for the sake of building. Maybe it's safe maybe it's not. Don't get it right just get it running.

So first order of business let's get those handlebars changed for a beefier set. Had these super thick bars off of a Razor kids bike and they are pretty dang similar. Painted them silver and stuck them on. And in Ratrodbikes tradition my foot in the picture. (Those who remember you the VIP's)

As an added bonus the top tube is fatter and doesn't allow the pad to spin on the bar.

Weird little Easter egg under the front pad. Someone who watches stranger things fill me in... ?

Other pad has this cool retro logo for starcourt mall

Hope all my parts come in on schedule.

Crank swapped out. Went with these black crank arms to better match the wheels.

Got into the crank and crank bearing is chewed up too.

New pedals came in today and they are awesome! Perfect look for this old school BMX. Shin shredders. Aka rat traps.

New seat is on, had a decent black crank laying around so decided I'd just use it.

Still waiting on the tires and tubes.

In season 3, the main characters intercept a radio transmission in Russian...they decipher it to the text that's under your pad. They crack the code as being dropoff locations in...The Starcourt Mall! :bandit:

I didn't know those Easter eggs were on those bikes... pretty cool.

Finally got my new tires last night and got them put on. I tried to find gumwall tires in 24 x 2.125 but could not find anything but 24 x 1.75 so decided to go with the solid black and fatter size rather than the gumwall skinnys. Doesn't look too bad. It's not all gonna make the build off but I plan to add a 3 piece crank, a chainring and sprocket setup, and sealed bottom bracket bearings. Beef it up a little. Don't mind the bedroom workshop... It's hot outside and I work in front of the fan.

Completely forgot that I cranked the resolution for a photo shoot I did and forgot to set it back down. Hope this works.
