I have no idea what I bought but the price was right. I was told about 60% of it was original. The wheels, light, rear fender and crank are not original. It has a double arrow on the downtube.Anyone have a guess as to what I have?
The second bike is a Lil Chick I bought from some hippies at thier yard sale today for 10.00. I like the hand painted "grow your own" on the chain guard and the peace symbol on the head tube.I plan on painting this bike today and giving it to my neices littlest one.

looks like it may be a columbia/hawthorne/ or rollfast
serial #(should be under the b.b.) and where the badge was might help a little more
nice score

Well after breaking down the Lil Chick and getting ready to strip off the layers of paint I called my niece to find out her daughters fav. color was, only to find out the kid is out of state for 6 weeks with grandparents, aarrgghh.Project on hold. :x

On to other project.........

Looked for serial# on BB. It is pretty boggered up. From what I can read it looks like D61518
Here is a pic. at headbadge.......

I took pics of BB ,but they were too close up and blurry.

Wait, I should spend some time on the RRBO4 build

I would suspect your bike to be a Hawthorne, by the look's of the headbadge, and the frame shape. which was made by H.P.Snyder, hopefully, RMS37 Phil will chime in on this with better info. nice find, wish I had it

I wasnt able to find any info on the serial #.I did however find the same paint scheme on a prewar Rollfast.Notice the double arrow on the downtube

The fork is different though.
Did Rollfast make Hawthornes as well ?
Another clue may be the rear rack,it has an unusual way of attaching.

I will get a better pic of it tommorow.
Thanks for the help and getting me pointed in the right direction.

Rollfast's and Hawthorne's were both made by H.P. Snyder from like the '20's through the 60's I think, which accounts for similarities between the two. I don't know very much about the motobike type bicycles, but I'd say yours is H.P. Snyder made... it is very cool regardless, I'd love to dfind one of these.

cool finds. the chainring, which must not be oem, looks a schwinn. it could be a hp snyder built (rollfast and hawthorne) bike, though. very cool. as for the "hippie bike"... grow your own what... (i couldnt resist)

The guy I bought it from had mentioned he thought it was possibly a Schwinn.hmmm.I aired up the tires , had the hub overhauled and replaced the top part of seat and its ready to roll.

i wouldnt go by the chainring on that one....its obviously been swapped out(1935 wouldve been 1" pitch.......and if it wasnt itd be wider than the one in the picture....thats just a standard 1/2" pitch on there) my moneys still on snyder made...
