Leftover Special DONE!!!

I just signed up on here the other day. Thought I would show what I am working on as of right now. This is my first bike build and I wasn't really planning on ever building one, but a friend got me into it. This bike started out as a Ross that was bought by the same friend at a yard sale. He bought the bike because it was a cantilever frame and he wanted the upper two tubes and the fenders off it for his build. I have never seen the bike in one piece or what it looked like when he bought it. I came along after he cut it up and was needing a frame and figured I could build something out of it. My friend has named it the Leftover special because most if not all of the parts I have gotten or I am using I have gotten free or off other bike projects that nobody wanted. So, heres some pics of it as of now. I am still working on it, welding and grinding and waiting on tires and what not.

So this is when I was fabing the extension.

This is after I cut the seat post and moved it. The upper rear tubes are just stuck on for getting idea.

This is probably the hardest part so far. I do not have tubing bender or know anyone with one that can bend anything this small. So, I made it with a conduit bender and alot of elbow grease. The handle bars and crank are just stuck on just to see what it will look like.

This is my rear fender and the chain guard. Neither are attached as I do not have my new crank or tires yet.

WOW! you really should'nt leave yer bike leanin' by the trash cans. the garbage collectors mite just take it away. :shock: :lol:

Yeah they might haul it off it after they tried to ride it. It needs a sprocket and gear change before you can get anywhere but downhill on it. I also pick up a new rear hub today as the old one was toast. :roll: Tires are on there way.

UPDATE!!! Got my tires in so I started putting the fenders on and here is what I've got so far.

Heres the front fender. I had to cut it some so it would fit as it didnt come off this bike. Got the front tire mounted on it as well, its s 24x2.125

Heres my rear wheel and new rear tire. I picked up a Felt thick brick 24x3. I like it.

So I sat it together to see what all was goin on. Im gonna have to do something with the rear fender. I got a buddy with an english wheel and I might try to flatten it out some so it goes over the rear tire better. Also, I'm gonna have to fool around with my rear forks some because the tire is hitting. Oh the joys of customs.

Here it is from the side. I think its gonna work out.

So gents the Special has been in hibernation for a while but it came back to life a couple months ago and I've been bustin' ... trying to get it done. I'm not quit there yet but a small update.

Alright heres another taste. Im not finished with the pinstriping yet but the bike is together minus a seat. I dont want to show it until the the pinstriping work is done.
