Okay I built a custom light for less than six dollars! It's a camping lantern, an led flashlight and a funnel!

Anyone else build some custom lights? Let's see 'em!

Ace how did you remove the back of the sealed beam ?

I'm not sure I understand the question, but the lightbulb with innerworks/seal was fixed inside with a 3-point bajonet closeure, thus easily removed. Hope that answers your question?

I forgot about this one . Standard sigma flasher that takes a 3 v source found a small 3v cell that would fit into this gen taillight put a push button sw in the lens
and then its self contained used the sigma pc board and leds.

Slick lights guys! I am loving all the LED conversions. My first light turned out nice, but after seeing some of yours, I am now working on a wired system, which is surprizingly easy thanks to all the awesome pics!

Cool lighting is something I really like building. I use LEDs in all my lights. Some of the lights I build used cheap LED flashlights, some are scratch built. I like to use automobile cowl lights and taillights, some I build use other stuff.
The Star Chief, uses heavy plastic drinking cups packed with 8 red LEDs inside each cup with batteries inside the license plate box.

The Rust Rat, my RRBBO2 bike

The Beerbike, uses flashlights ,beer cans, plexiglass ( the taillight is from a towel rack) and foam rubber

The taillight glows red in the dark

The Rat Tandem, uses a pair cowl lights. With Rudy on board.

The Starliner, my RRBBO4 bike

The cardboard VW bus tandem bike, it used lights from the store that are a push the lense to turn on/off

This is a led conversion that Dangratsdan did for the 2008 Midwest Bicycle Fest raffle bike

I made 2 of these bucket lights for my RRBBO1 bike using small buckets and 9V lanterns.

Bike Of Frankenstein I added a speedometer into the light

Heres mine. Its a plastic truck light from Walmart. Used a 32 led flashlight for the conversion.

Cant find a stock picture of it (all i did was grind the plastic mounts off the bottom, drilled a hole and used an old metal light bracket

ROTFLOL! That's nice, but I really don't need to be seen from space.

So it seems everyone including myself has opted for LED's. Which honestly makes sense as they are so darned bright and easy to wire. I have built three custom lights like the one in the first post, and am happy to say each one came out better than the last.

Now I am looking for things that look cool as tail lights. I have heard people say to check out the truckstops, but I am more of a "find and fab" kinda builder (especially since these are Rat bikes, and I highly doubt your average Rattus Rattus shops much). Any suggestions?
